A lot moved in AI today. Here's the short version of what's actually worth your attention.

Anthropic Just Canceled a Price Hike

Claude Sonnet 5 launched in June at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with that rate originally set to jump to $3 and $15 on September 1. Today, Anthropic reversed course. That introductory pricing is now permanent. The planned September 1 increase no longer applies.

If you run any automation that touches Claude behind the scenes (a Make.com scenario, anything built on the API), the bill you were bracing for just isn't coming.

Claude Now Watermarks What It Writes

Anthropic signed onto the EU AI Act's transparency rules, and new Claude models launched from August 2, 2026 onward now weave an imperceptible watermark directly into generated text. Generated images get a digital signature instead, using the open C2PA standard. It applies worldwide, not just the EU, and the mark travels with the text even after you copy and paste it elsewhere, without changing the quality or meaning of the response.

Worth knowing if AI touches your content business: a detected mark means the content may have passed through Claude; it doesn't prove Claude wrote every word, since someone could use it just to edit or reformat their own writing. And a missing mark doesn't prove a human wrote it either, since short text and heavy edits can strip it out. Not a big deal for your day-to-day, just good to know it exists.

Manus Splits From Meta

The AI agent startup Manus is separating from Meta after Chinese regulators blocked Meta's acquisition of the company, and it's going back to operating independently. If you use Manus for anything, this is the part that matters: data created from December 29, 2025 onward is set to be deleted for certain users, with a backup window open through August 22, deletion August 23 through 24, and data restoration starting August 25.

If that's you, back it up before the 22nd.

One Less Password

ChatGPT is rolling out "Sign in with ChatGPT" across select partner apps, including Notion, HubSpot, Airtable, GitLab, Supabase, and Vercel. If you use Notion or HubSpot, you may soon be able to log in with your ChatGPT account instead of creating yet another password.
